Thomas B. Edsall is a prize-winning journalist and Joseph Pulitzer II and Edith Pulitzer Moore Professor of Journalism at Columbia University. He currently serves as a special correspondent for The New Republic and an online election-year columnist for The New York Times. In addition to a twenty-five year career at The Washington Post, Professor Edsall has reported for The Baltimore Sun and The Providence Journal and has frequently contributed TV and radio commentary to CNN, CSPAN, MSNBC, PBS, FOX, and NPR. He has written extensively for magazines including the American Prospect, the Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s, the New York Review of Books, the Nation and the New Republic. He is also the author of five books including, most recently, The Age of Austerity: How Scarcity Will Remake American Politics (2012).
